Emanuel Cohn and Carl Rosenberger founded Coro Jewelry 1902 and built their first major factory in Providence, Rhode Island in 1911 – then the center of large-scale American silver and costume jewelry production. The firm was immediately successful and had a world-wide distribution presence until it closed in 1979. Coro’s various jewelry lines including its Duettes, (see our example) Versailles and Vendome collections and Coro Craft used innovative engineering and new materials to create distinctive designer jewels. The designs have also proven timeless, exemplified by its still popular Lucite and enamel “Jelly-bellies.” Our sterling silver and vermeil flower pin was manufactured in the 1960s. Like many jewelry houses at that time of cultural upheaval, Coro was challenged to keep abreast of changing tastes while maintaining its loyal customer base. This dramatic pin, with its mid-century simplicity, flora-form abstraction and luxurious impression was one of their more successful new designs, very much in keeping with the Givenchy and Chanel end of the fashion design spectrum. Condition: Excellent. Dimensions: 2.5" x 2.5".
