Our all-sterling charm necklace is difficult to date precisely, but judging by its double link chain it was probably created in the 1930s or 40s. The 15 charms, two of which are nautical and the rest in the form of marine animals, are of the same scale and appear to be by the same maker. Among the sea-creatures are whales, dolphins, an octopus, a sea turtle, a sea horse, and various seashells. The quality of the charms is excellent; each is true to life, with finely chased details on both sides for accuracy. Charm bracelets, very often wrist diaries in silver and gold of important life events, are familiar and often entertaining pieces of jewelry. Charm necklaces appear less frequently; this one is an elegant and understated reminder of the natural world around us. Condition: Excellent. Size: 12" drop.
