Our signed Kenneth J. Lane bracelet is from the 1970s when antique jewelry from India, particularly northern Mughal India, inspired much of the costume jewelry designer’s best work. This bracelet of heavily silver to gold plated square links is architectural in feel, an interpretation of the graceful domes of such monuments as the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort in Delhi, the main residence of the 17th and 18th century Mughal Emperors. Lane started designing jewelry and launched his business in 1963 and in a 30th anniversary tribute in 1993, The New York Times compared him to Coco Chanel in his success at making costume jewelry chic. While celebrity clients such a Jacqueline Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor and the Duchess of Windsor assured his success among the jet set, Lane always designed jewelry for a broad clientele of discriminating working women as well. Lane died in 2017, and his vintage pieces are in particularly high demand for their elegant design and fine craftsmanship. Condition: Some loss to plating. Dimensions: 7" x 1.25".
