Our long necklace suspends three tumble-polished stones – an amethyst, rock crystal, and smokey quartz – each “wrapped” in sterling silver wire, or banding, that was most fashionable in the late 1960s to early 1970s. The stones were later added to the sterling silver chain. The style grew out of the Hippie culture, itself based on the Roma fashion which was then referred to as “Gypsy” or “Traveler” culture. The popularity of New Age philosophy, which placed great importance on nature and particularly the inherent healing or protective power of various minerals, also promoted the widespread success of the style. Our chain may be worn opera length or doubled. Condition: Excellent. Clasp replaced. Length, 23".
