Long before the Lord of the Rings and the Marvel universe (at least their film and television versions) there was Highlander. Our sterling silver ring was part of the show’s merchandising campaign and is unusual for its high quality. Highlander was first released as a feature film in 1986 and then as a TV series from 1992 -1998. Set in the Pacific northwest, this science fantasy action adventure is a tale of immortality and the eternal struggle between good and evil. Both the film and the series were international hits that drew upon popular fascination with Celtic culture, legends and ancient runic inscriptions. These are embodied by the protagonist Duncan MacLeod, an “immortal” adopted for his own protection by the Scottish Clan McLeod 400 years prior to the start of the action. Unlike much entertainment merchandise which is mass produced and disposable, our Highlander ring was handcrafted by silversmiths in Taxco, Mexico, perhaps to enforce the show’s theme of eternity. Condition: Excellent. Size: 8.5.
