Chuck Palahniuk (b.1962) struggled from an early age with poverty, alienation, critical judgement, and sexual identity. The adversities he faced became generally the themes of his novels. He worked first as a freelance journalist, then as a laborer and a volunteer at help centers and hospices. It was, in part, a moral journey that involved him in personal loss and professional growth as a writer. Palahniuk first came to wide public attention with the 1999 film production of his second fully developed novel, The Fight Club, three years after its publication. Palahniuk has since published 17 more novels, several works of non-fiction, numerous articles and three graphic novels. Offered here are First Editions of two of his most well-received subsequent novels, Survivor (1999) and Choke (2001). In both critically well received works, he continues to explore his underlying philosophy of individual empowerment in a charged and triggered world, written in his characteristically minimalist and often non-linear style. Our fine First Editions of Survivor and Choke are offered as a set. Condition: Choke in unread condition, Survivor in unread condition with slight ripple in in the jacket cover bottom wear. Dimensions: 8.5" x 6".
