The Legatoria Piazzesi, located a few minutes’ walk from La Fenice and the Gritti Palace Hotel in the San Marco district, is Venice’s oldest and most respected custom book bindery and papery. The workshop is famous today for beautiful, and much copied, hand-printed papers and paper-covered desk accessories. Far rarer and more difficult to acquire are special commissions such as this beautiful hand-painted papier-mâché character doll in 18th century dress.
